So far, one of the most helpful tips I've learned when taking a photo is shallow depth of field. I used this technique in my photo of a snail. To take this photo, I had to get on the snail's level. Even with laying on the ground, my iPad's camera was too high up. To solve this problem, I flipped my iPad so the camera was right at the snail's eye-level. I let my camera focus on the small details of the snail's then I took the shot. This photo taught me that shallow depth of field really makes you focus on the subject because you can't be distracted by the background.
